At the Neighborhood Economic Development Division, our mission is to stimulate private investment by encouraging the active participation of community based groups in the implementation and management of commercial revitalization initiatives. We facilitate the rejuvenation of under-served communities across the borough of Queens by creating jobs, improving physical conditions and promoting private investment.
Our division provides technical assistance to merchant associations and local development organizations with the strategic planning and implementation of physical improvement projects along commercial corridors. Our services include: assessing economic conditions, identifying areas in greatest need of improvement, advising neighborhood aesthetic enhancements, structuring capital improvement budgets, and coordinating with appropriate city agencies on the execution of streetscape and facade renovations.
