January 18, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Join tax expert Abby Eisenkraft for a class to learn all about self-employment tax reporting.  Just in time for tax season! As always, there will also be free food and plenty of opportunity to network!

The presentation will include:

  • Allowable deductions for the self-employed – we will do a deep dive on Schedule C and discuss what is legally deductible and what is not (regardless of what tax advice people get from their “friends”!)
  • How to keep your records per IRS regulations
  • Other taxes you may be subject to (not just ordinary income tax, but self-employment tax, MCTMT tax, etc.)
  • How to set up online accounts to pay the Taxing Authorities electronically
  • Home Office – Regular and Safe Harbor rules
  • Due Dates (estimated taxes, LLC filing, entity filings, etc.)
  • What to expect if your small business is audited, and how to survive it
  • Best practices

The Queens Economic Development Corporation and Queens Tourism Council will host Queens Taste 2024 at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Tuesday, May 21, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

We expect to attract more than 500 attendees with 50 restaurants and beverage purveyors, who will offer samples of their products. Thus, attendees will be able to bounce from table to table, tasting treats from tangy to fiery, crunchy to velvety, and sweet to briny.

Queens Taste is also a celebration of the borough -- and a great way to network. Almost all the anticipated 500 attendees either live in Queens or do business there. Many are executives and captains of industry. The atmosphere is always festive, almost giddy, creating an ideal scene for meeting and greeting.
